Michell Temple, PhD
Licensed Professional Counselor
Many people take the decision to seek professional counseling quite seriously because they acknowledge the significance of inviting a stranger into the challenges of their lives. If you decide to invite me into your life, I am committed to cultivating a safe, compassionate, and innovative environment where you can move through life transitions, misfortunes, and tragedies to experience development and growth.
I provide vocational rehabilitation and mental health counseling services to adults. My journey into professional counseling began in 2003. I was called into vocational rehabilitation counseling to collaborate with adolescents and adults with disabilities as they achieved their personal and vocational goals. Over the years, I have come to believe that I am especially helpful to college students who were navigating the stressors of post-secondary education and adulting. Adults with specific concerns related to anxiety, depression, trauma, religious and spiritual struggles, racial/ethnic identity, relationship issues, phase of life problems, and career exploration and job readiness have also found working with me meaningful. My experience in counseling spans nearly two decades. Currently, my approach to counseling integrates evidence-based interventions and therapies grounded in a wellness-resilience framework.
I teach full-time at Denver Seminary in both the master’s and doctoral counseling programs. I also serve as teaching faculty in the trauma therapy certificate program at the International Institute of Postgraduate Education in Kyiv, Ukraine. My clinically focused research and scholarship focuses on resilience, stress, well-being, spiritual and religious issues in counseling, and manualized or protocol therapies.
